Bow Cutting Ceremony
Portland Art Museum
When the Portland Art Museum prepared to unveil its newly expanded campus, they came to Portland Garment Factory to help create the event's bold and unforgettable backdrop. PGF brought to life an enormous bow that wrapped the facade of the Museum’s new wing. From materials testing and pattern development to structural engineering, fabrication, and on-site installation, we created a highly visible, light weight, durable, and weather tolerant bow with sculpted loops and exaggerated ribbons.
For PGF, the installation was more than a fabrication project, it was a meaningful symbol that ushered in a major cultural moment for our city. The ribbon cutting ceremony not only celebrated the museum's expansion but also the debut of the Pipilotti Rist exhibition that our team had spent the past year and a half helping bring to life.
